Health and Care’s Top 70 Stars

David Nash

In 2015  our department approached Hotel Services in POWH to pilot “Group PADR’s”

David being one of the Cleaning Services Supervisors was given the role of implementing the process within the department.  David came along to our first meeting with so much energy and enthusiasm for the task and that enthusiasm and energy has not changed.

David wanted the pilot to work and he wanted the staff to enjoy having a PADR and feel valued. This demonstrated that he is living the values linking with all 3 values “caring for each other always improving and working together”. David had never facilitated anything prior so this  was a new skill he learnt and is brilliant at bringing the best out of the staff having the PADR and really valuing what they do and listening to their ideas. David went above beyond to make the pilot work and believed that the Group PADR option should be offered to everyone.

The next stage was to pilot Group PADR in other areas within the Health Board.  I asked David if he would be willing to work with me by going into areas that were interested in running the group sessions and speaking about his experiences of running them and talking about what he had learnt on the pilot in POWH. I could explain the process, but it was David explaining his experiences of running the PADR has and answer Managers questions, apprehension, and putting them at ease with the process.  David also offered to support the managers in their journey, which I thoughtful and again living our ABMU Values

Again, this was beyond David’s day-to-day job.

The l completion of a successful pilot allowed the option for a Group PADR to be added into the PADR policy.  David again offered  to attend  Staff Side meeting to speak how Group PADR’s have added value to his staff’s PADR, how staff engagement in the process has increased. David answered all questions with passion.

David has played a vital role in the success of Group PADR’s within ABMU, going above and beyond to make this happen.
