Emma has worked at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals since 2000, where she started working in the health records department whilst studying at college. In 2007, Emma graduated from the University of Central Lancashire with a BA (Hons) in Midwifery Studies. Following this, in 2008, Emma commenced in post as a midwife for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals where she went on to undertake a number of roles within the maternity service. Emma was successfully appointed to her current role as the Delivery Suite Ward Manager in 2016.

Since coming into post, Emma and her team have been working with the Royal College of Midwives (RCM) as part of the better births by co-design project. Being part of this project has been a fantastic opportunity and we are one of only two trusts within the UK to be selected to participate in this project.  Being part of the better births by co-design project has facilitated us to engage with families and staff to develop the environment of our delivery suite to be a place that meets everybody’s needs.  With feedback obtained from women, families and staff we have been able to work towards changes to make the delivery suite environment more relaxing and welcoming therefore helping to facilitate positive birth experiences for women with complex pregnancy needs.

Emma works tirelessly to make our delivery suit a wonderful place to work in, and for women to give birth in.
