I would like to nominate the Emergency and Intensive Care Teams at Salisbury District Hospital and all supporting staff for their outstanding response to the Salisbury incident. This was a collective response from staff right across the hospital, including radiology and pathology and so many other supporting services.

Throughout the incident the teams provided outstanding care to the three inpatients who were exposed to the nerve agent and a number of other people from the community who had concerns and were assessed and discharged. That the three inpatients were able to be discharged within 11 weeks of the incident is thanks to the hard work, skills and professionalism of the clinical teams and everyone else who supported them.

They also continued to provide good quality care to all other patients during this period. This has been a huge and unprecedented challenge and they have represented the NHS at its very best.
